Picking the Right Solar and Battery Package

Solar is booming in Australia, and for good reason. Energy bills keep climbing, and a good solar and battery setup can make a massive difference—not just in savings, but in how much control you have over your power.

But if you’ve started looking around, you’ve probably noticed there are a lot of options with tailored solar and battery packages. Different brands, warranties, battery sizes… It’s easy to get lost.

At Max Power Solar, we’ve been helping NSW homeowners make the switch years. We’ve seen what works, what doesn’t, and what you should really focus on. This guide walks you through the essentials.

What’s in a Solar and Battery Package?

Solar and Battery Package is basically little power station that generates electricity during the day using solar panels, and whatever you don’t use gets stored in a battery for later—like at night, or during blackouts.

Instead of buying everything separately, a solar and battery package gives you a setup where everything’s designed to work together.

Here’s what you usually get:

  • Solar Panels – These go on your roof and capture sunlight. Ours use N-type cells and dual-glass tech—great for tough Aussie conditions.
  • Inverter – This turns the DC power from your panels into the AC power your home can use. Some batteries, like the Tesla Powerwall 3, come with an inverter built-in to save cost.
  • Battery – Stores extra power so you’re not relying on the grid when you don’t need to be. Popular options we offer include Tesla, Sonnen, and Sungrow.

Our 10kW Sonnen Package includes high-efficiency solar panels and the SonnenBatterie Evo (10kWh storage, 10-year warranty). Or there’s the Tesla Powerwall 3 package—13.5kWh capacity with the same 10-year cover.

Choosing the Right Setup: What to Look For

Here are some things you should follow to find the best solar and battery package:

  1. Warranties That Actually Mean Something
  2. Battery Type
  3. Will It Work With Your Home?
  4. How Much Storage Do You Need?
  5. Reputable Brands

Warranties That Actually Mean Something

Panels are a long-term deal. Ours are backed by a 30-year Aussie warranty. That means they’ll still be producing at least 89% of their original output after three decades. Make sure you’re covered for both product defects and performance.

Battery Type

We recommend lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries—they’re safer, last longer, and handle daily use really well. Tesla and Sonnen both use this tech.

Will It Work With Your Home?

Some systems are plug-and-play. Others might need a specific inverter or setup. We tailor everything based on your home—whether it’s single-phase, three-phase, or something in between. Plus, if you want to join a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and earn from your stored energy, we’ll make sure your system is compatible.

How Much Storage Do You Need?

Most homes do well with around 10kWh, but if you’ve got a big household or high usage (think pool pumps, EVs, etc.), you might need more. Our Tesla package with 13.5kWh is a solid option. And if you’re not sure yet, some systems (like Sungrow) are modular—you can add more battery capacity later.

Reputable Brands

There’s a lot of noise in the market. We stick with proven names—Tesla, Sonnen, Sungrow—because they’ve been tested and backed with real support. And we’re local, so if anything ever needs attention, we’re here to sort it quickly.

Installation Makes All the Difference

Even the best gear won’t work properly if it’s not installed the right way. Our installers are Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA)-accredited and know the ins and outs of the installation process. We do detailed site checks and don’t cut corners. The goal is to build a system that’s not just good on paper but works great for your home.
